Would people in Spain be able to understand Chilean Spanish?

Pretty much. There are some vocab differences, but the rest is nearly identical. They are closer than Mexican Spanish and Spanish dialects are, and Spaniards I've known have had little trouble understanding Mexican Spanish...some may hate the accent, but they definitely understand.
