Lighting for Chilean rose hair tarantulas?

Ive had a Chilean rose hair tarantula before. I kept a male for 7 years before he died. I never had any types of lighting. I know the lights are typically shyed away from but i was wondering if an old gecko light that i have for nighttime would be okay as i like to observe him when he is more active.
