Why do the Jersey Shore gang say that they are all Itailian when really some of them aren't?

Ok I have a real annoying problem, they gab all the time about being Italian when in all reality some of them aren't. Snooki is freakin Chilean, Jenni is Spanish and Irish, and I don't know what Sammi is, but I highly doubt that she is Italian.
