Whats wrong with my Graphic card driver?

When i install the GC Driver(came with the GC 8400GS 512)my computer will freeze when it says welcome in Win7.So i downloaded the latest driver from the official site(nvidia)even then no change.I need the driver for a perfect resolution for my monitor.Like the screen is packed so tight even though the resolution is 1024x768.I need 1320x??? don no exactly.What should i do.Is this the problem with the Graphic card?
