Why are South Americans standoffish from other Latins in America?

well, i'm brasilian, and in brasil i think most of us understand that we are latinos, maybe because most of brasilians look white some of them are like i'm european living in latin america so i'm not latin american. i'm half brasilian half japanese and i don't hate being called latina, i mean i speak portuguese there's no way i will get angry if someone tells me that.
